Pentax K-7
1 July 2009 (photographyblog.com)
Review
The Pentax K-7 is one of the more exciting new DSLR
cameras
of 2009, signalling Pentax’s entry into the super-competitive semi-pro category. Going up against the likes of the Canon EOS 50D and Nikon D300, the 14.6 megapixel K7 certainly has a lot to offer on paper, surpassing its main rivals in many ways. The Pentax K-7 joins the growing list of
DSLR cameras
that can record video, with a best quality setting of 1536x1024 pixels at 30fps. In-camera High Dynamic Range is another up-to-the-minute feature, combining three differently exposed images on-the-fly to create a single photo with expanded dynamic range.

Spider Camera Holster is a bit idiotic, possibly brilliant
3 June 2009 (engadget.com)
We've been known to mule-about vast quantities of gear for hours at a time in order to bring you the latest and greatest in gadgets at a real-time pace. That means several pounds of electronics (laptops, data cards, extra batteries, smartphones, a DSLR with multiple lenses,
compact camera
, a video camera and all the associated cables and power bricks) slung from our feeble necks and shoulders. So when someone comes along with a claim to offset that load, well, we're going to listen. Enter the Spider
Camera
Holster; a belt clip with a "spider pin" adapter that screws into the bottom of your cam allowing for a quick attach and release from the belt. A trick that moves the load from your neck to your hip in the process. Whether this is brilliant or idiotic, we're not sure yet. Just try not to stare if you see us standing in a crowd with trou dropped around the ankles -- we might be working... we might not. The Spider camera holster will ship this summer for an undetermined price.

Canon Vixia HF S100
8 May 2009 (reviews.cnet.com)
Many companies turn out SD-based camcorders in compact designs, simply because the flash-based technologies allow for much smaller models than those based on tape, hard disks, and mini DVDs. While Canon continues to offer compact AVCHD models, the Vixia HF20 and the HF200, the company's branching out with slightly more "pro" prosumer offerings in the Vixia HF S100 and the Vixia HF S10.
These two models, which record 1,920x1,080 60i video, feature a larger, faster f1.8 10x HD lens and a relatively large, high-resolution 1/2.6-inch 8-megapixel CMOS sensor, along with higher-end capabilities, such as SMPTE color bars, the ability to manually boost gain up to 18dB, fixed 70 and 100 IRE zebra stripes, and a user-assignable button/control dial combo. They differ only by internal memory: the HF S100 has none, while the HF S10 has 32GB.

Comparison between different types & manufacturers of Digital Cameras
10 April 2009 (wired.com)
Product Reviews
A
digital camera
(or digicam for short) is a camera that takes video or still photographs, or both, digitally by recording images via an electronic image sensor. Many compact digital still cameras can record sound and moving video as well as still photographs. In the Western market,
digital cameras
outsell their 35 mm film counterparts.[1] Digital cameras can do things film cameras cannot: displaying images on a screen immediately after they are recorded, storing thousands of images on a single small memory device, recording video with sound, and deleting images to free storage space.
Digital cameras
are incorporated into many devices ranging from PDAs and
mobile phones (called camera phones) to vehicles. The Hubble Space Telescope and other astronomical devices are essentially specialised digital cameras.

Olympus plans 50 year anniversary party for diminutive Pen camera
3 April 2009 (googe.com)
Aw, how cute. 50 years ago, Olympus set the 35mm
film camera
market on its head with the remarkably small "Pen" line. These half-frame cameras were thought to be as portable as ink pens back in the day, thus earning them the name. Production ceased sometime in the 80s (that whole decade is really just a haze), but that's not stopping the prideful historians at the company from throwing a 50 year anniversary bash over in Tokyo. Starting on April 6th and running through June 30th, the golden gala will feature numerous old Pen models as well as mysterious "prototypes" that we can only hope will hit the market in the near future. So, after you wipe the tears from your eyes, care to tell us if you're going?

Samsung HZ15W and hands-on, with friends
1 April 2009 (engadget.com)
We're not exactly enthused at all the granularity makes up Samsung's wide assortment of digital compacts, but it's not like they're the only offenders in the industry. In the high end they've got the HZ15W and TL320 -- we've seen the TL320 and is marvelous analog dials in the wild before, but the HZ15W is a new one on us. Overall the
camera
is a bit bulky for this segment, and we'd have a hard time sticking it into a pants or jacket pocket without discomfort.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II flash drive: just 21.1MP shy of awesomeness
27 march 2009 (ebay.com)
You could say that this is the perfect USB flash drive for existing EOS 5D Mark II owners. We'd argue, however, that this is the perfect USB flash drive for those looking to just live vicariously while not shattering the bank. 'Course, $129.99 for a 4GB USB key is pretty absurd, but at least that gets you Live View and a 1080p movie mode.

Panasonic DMC-GH1 Micro Four Thirds shooter with 1080p video landing April 24th
27 march 2009 (66.196.80.202)
While we patiently wait for the Micro Four Thirds format DMC-GH1 with 1080p video to pop for purchase, we have to feed on whatever retail crumbs we can grub off Panasonic. As usual, our Japanese camera overlords will have first dibs on this ¥150,000 (less than $1,500 when it arrives Stateside) bundle that includes a 14-140mm lens starting April 24th. Think about it; we've gone from zero to four HD-capable video DSLRs in six months. Ok, ok, three-plus actually, since Micro Four Thirds cams are technically not DSLRs due to the lack of an internal mirror and prism -- just humor us with with GH1's interchangeable lens mount, DSLR-sized sensor, and bevy of manual controls ok? Geesh.

How To Decide What Type of Digital Camera you Need
For those people who are into shooting a lot of pictures and printing them to give to friends and relatives and keep copies in albums, the medium resolution 3 to 5 megapixel digital cameras will suit them best.
An amateur photographer will find the 5 to 7 megapixel digital camera very suitable for landscape and nature photography. This type has more advanced features and come with several attachments to make their photos come out better. The higher resolution makes their output suitable for use art and graphic works. They can also be printed in larger formats.
How High-definition Camcorders Work
Like the HDTVs before them, HD camcorders represent a significant step up from their conventional digital counterparts. As the article How HDTV Works explains, high-definition digital technology produces better quality pictures and sound than standard digital and analog do. Even the best standard signals can only display a maximum frame size of 576 lines of pixels (the tiny dots that make up an image), whereas full HD resolution displays 1,920 lines, producing pictures with much more clarity and detail. Now when you film the birth of your baby boy, you'll actually be able to see the individual hairs waving on his head.
